Add Yolanda Montez to the ever-growing list of heroes set to appear on Stargirl. According to insider Lance Ausfresser in the Stargirl Facebook group, The Fosters actress Yvette Monreal will portray the character on the DC Universe series.
Created by Roy Thomas, Dannette Thomas, and Don Newton, Yolanda Montez first appeared in Infinity Inc. #12 in March of 1985. As a child, Yolanda manifests superhuman abilities that were caused by experiments conducted on her mother, Maria, by the villain Doctor Love while she was pregnant. During the Crisis on Infinite Earths, Yolanda’s godfather, Ted Grant, aka Wildcat, is injured which leads to her assuming his identity as a hero and joining a second-generation team of heroes known as Infinity, Inc.
Playing Ted Grant/Wildcat on DC Universe’s Stargirl will be The Walking Dead actor Brian Stapf. The character most recently appeared in the third season of The CW’s Arrow (played by J.R. Ramirez), as an ex-vigilante who trains Laurel Lance.
Hailing from Geoff Johns, Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new drama will reimagine Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series.
