Matt Reeves Reportedly Eyeing Vanessa Kirby For Catwoman In ‘The Batman’

A name has surfaced for the role of Catwoman in The Batman. According to Thomas Polito at The Geeks Worldwide, Vanessa Kirby is a being eyed by director Matt Reeves to play Selina Kyle in his upcoming DC film.
Kirby is best known for her roles in The Crown and Mission: Impossible – Fallout. Her other credits include Jupiter Ascending, Me Before You, and Everest. Next month, Kirby will star alongside Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham in Hobbs & Shaw.
Given that it’s so early in the casting process, Kirby is likely among a list of names that Reeves and Warner Bros. are interested in for the role. As we get closer to the official start of production on The Batman, more candidates are sure to emerge.

Created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, Catwoman first appeared in Batman #1 in 1940. Originally written as an adversary for Batman, Selina Kyle has become an antihero in recent years, often doing the wrong things for the right reasons. Catwoman has appeared several times in live-action, with the most notable being Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns, Halle Berry in Catwoman, and Anne Hathaway in The Dark Knight Rises.
Last month, THR revealed what we should expect to see in Robert Pattinson’s iteration of the Caped Crusader. “The story is neither another rehashing of his origin nor the tale of a seasoned crimefighter ruling Gotham City. He is Bruce Wayne still trying to find his footing on his way to becoming the genius detective.”
