Mindy Kaling Confirms Talks With Marvel About Ms. Marvel Adaptation

Since the character first appeared in 2013, fans have been clamoring for a live-action version of Ms. Marvel. As Marvel’s first Muslim character to headline a comic book, Kamala Khan reaches an audience that has long been without a hero of their own. One of the members of that audience is Mindy Kaling, who is best known for her roles in The Office and the Fox/Hulu comedy series Mindy.
While promoting her upcoming film Late Night alongside Emma Thompson, Kaling told MTV News that she let the team at Marvel know that she was interested in helping adapt Ms. Marvel for live-action:
“I think the people I’ve spoken to Marvel about it are so excited about the character and I think that they’re trying to figure out what to do with it, and, I told them I would help in any way because I truly love her.”

The Office star went on to discuss how she believes that something is already in the works with the character, potentially on the Disney+ streaming service:
“They really seemed interested, and I think they will probably do something. Now that there’s like this streaming service with them, it might be something like that, but I think they understand how much there is the excitement.”
Last year, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told BBC that they had planned to introduce Ms. Marvel after Carol Danvers had made her way into the MCU. “Ms. Marvel, which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel, is definitely sort of in the works. We have plans for that once we’ve introduced Captain Marvel to the world,” Feige teased.
