UPDATE: Warner Bros. Negotiating Deal For Robert Pattinson To Play Batman

UPDATE: A new report from Deadline claims that although Robert Pattinson is Warner Bros. top choice for the role of Batman, a deal between the studio and the actor’s representatives is still in the works. Nicholas Hoult and Armie Hammer are potential candidates to step in if Pattinson decides to back out from negotiations.
Holy Twilight Batman! According to Variety, Warner Bros. has tapped Harry Potter alum Robert Pattinson as the next Batman for Matt Reeves’ upcoming film.
Pattinson is best known for his role as Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise, appearing in five movies over five years. His other credits include Remember Me, The Lost City of Z, and Water for Elephants. The 33-year-old actor is set to appear alongside John David Washington and Elizabeth Debicki in Christopher Nolan’s next film.

The role of Bruce Wayne was left vacant after Ben Affleck decided to move on following his appearance in 2017s Justice League. Affleck originally signed on to appear in a series of solo films, the first of which he would direct, but those plans hit a snag after Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice faced backlash from critics and fans alike causing Warner Bros. executives to alter their plans for the DCEU.
With Affleck steeping away, an opportunity arose for Reeves to choose his own Batman, something he hopes he’s found in Pattinson.
