Tom Welling Will Reportedly Appear In CW’s ‘Crisis On Infinite Earths’ Event

Tyler Hoechlin may not be the only Man of Steel suiting up in this year’s CW crossover. According to DC insider Lance Ausfresser, Smallville star Tom Welling is set to appear in the Crisis on Infinite Earths event later this year. It’s unclear if Welling will reprise his role as Clark Kent or appear as an all-new character.
Earlier this week, a fan that attended New Zealand’s Armageddon Expo claimed that Welling revealed he would appear in the next season of Arrow during a Q&A. What didn’t make sense about that statement is the fact that Season 8 of Arrow is barely in the early stages of pre-production, which is a long way off from casting guest stars. Fans quickly speculated that Welling could’ve accidentally let it slip that he would be making an appearance in the upcoming Arrowverse crossover, something Ausfresser’s report appears to corroborate.

Welling starred as Clark Kent on Smallville from 2001-2011. In 2017, the 41-year-old actor addressed rumors that he was approached to return as Superman on The CW’s Supergirl saying, “I would not want to watch me [suit up as Superman] at all.” In recent years, Welling appeared as Lt. Marcus Pierce in Fox’s Lucifer and had a small role in 2014s Draft Day.
Crisis on Infinite Earths will see the Oliver Queen, Barry Allen, and Kara Danvers team up to take on the Anti-Monitor, a story that played out in the comic event of the same name which ran from 1985-1986. The Crisis crossover was alluded to in last year’s Elseworlds, which saw the introduction of LaMonica Garrett’s Monitor.
Arrow airs Mondays at 8/7c on The CW
The series stars Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, Emily Bett Rickards, Katie Cassidy, Echo Kellum, Juliana Harkavy, Rick Gonzalez, and Colton Haynes.
