Idris Elba To Replace Will Smith As Deadshot In ‘The Suidice Squad’

Following Will Smith’s exit from the DCEU, Warner Bros. began to search for his replacement for James Gunn’s upcoming The Suicide Squad. Now, according to THR, they have found their man. Idris Elba is in talks to take over the role of Deadshot.
In a bombshell report, THR reveals that Elba met with Gunn this past Friday, with the meeting going very well. The two sides then began negotiating and quickly came to an agreement that would allow Elba to appear as Floyd Lawton in the follow-up to 2016s Suicide Squad. Elba was reportedly the first and only choice to replace Smith by both the studio and Gunn.
Elba is no stranger to the big Hollywood blockbuster. He appeared as Heimdall in the three Thor movies as well as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Age of Ultron. His other credits include The Wire, Pacific Rim, Star Trek Beyond and the upcoming Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw.
It also appears as if Deadshot won’t be the only character WB looks to recast for Gunn’s film as THR added that Rick Flagg could have a role in the project, but Joel Kinnaman is not likely to return. With the pace that this movie is moving, don’t be surprised if another actor quickly steps into that part.
