Rachel Zegler To Star In Kyle Mooney’s ‘Y2K’ For A24
Following her Oscar-nominated acting debut in Steven Speilberg’s West Side Story, Rachel Zegler is a star ever on the rise. Most recently, the multitalented actress steals scenes as a part of an impressive ensemble in DC’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Up next, as first reported by GVN, Zegler is in talks to join the cast of her first A24 film.
Per the initial report, Zegler is currently negotiating a deal to join the cast of an upcoming comedy titled Y2K. If she puts pen to paper, she will join a cast already including movie icon Alicia Silverstone. The rest of the ensemble cast will be rounded out by Mason Gooding (Booksmart), Jaeden Martell (It), Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2), and Tim Heidecker (Ant-Man and the Wasp). Musicians Fred Durst and The Kid LAROI are also expected to have roles in the film as well.
The film hails from Saturday Night Live alum Kyle Mooney, who will direct the feature with a script he co-wrote with Evan Winter. Joan Hill is on board to executive produce the feature as well. Check out the film’s official description below.
When a group of nerdy high schoolers attempts to go to the cool kids’ New Year’s Eve party, the literal Y2K bug kicks in, and computers start running amok and go on a deadly killing spree. These unlikely kids go on an epic odyssey to stop the violent computers and save their city.
In addition to her role in DC’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Rachel Zegler will soon portray the titular Disney princess in the live-action remake of the classic film Snow White. Additionally, the multihyphenate will lead the cast of the highly anticipated Hunger Games prequel The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes.
