Kerry Washington Joins Daniel Craig, Josh O’Connor, & More In Rian Johnson’s ‘Wake Up Dead Man’

Rian Johnson is continuing the trend of enlisting a stellar ensemble cast for his latest whodunnit within the Knives Out cinematic universe. A slew of casting announcements have fans talking as the production start date for his latest venture, Wake Up Dead Man, draws nearer. As first reported by Deadline, Kerry Washington is the latest name to join the ever-growing call sheet.

The Emmy winner joins Daniel Craig, who will reprise his role as super sleuth Benoit Blanc. Washington’s fellow newcomers include Challengers star Josh O’Connor, Priscilla standout  Cailee Spaeny, and Golden Globe nominee Andrew Scott.

Rian Johnson is back as the film’s screenwriter and director while his longtime collaborator Ram Bergman will serve as the executive producer. Like the following installment in the franchise, Glass Onion, the mystery will be financed and distributed by Netflix. Principal photography is set to commence in London in June 2024.

Kerry Washington is perhaps best known for her role as Olivia Pope in the ABC drama series Scandal. However, the multihyphenate touts memorable roles in films like Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained and, most recently, Netflix’s The School for Good and Evil. Up next, Washington can be seen starring alongside Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph in the action thriller Shadow Force.
