‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ Delayed Indefinitely

One of the biggest hits of 2023 so far has been Sony’s Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. The film is currently the second-highest-grossing film of the year domestically and stands as one of the highest-rated films of all time on the social app Letterboxd. However, given the ongoing strikes in Hollywood due to several studios’ refusal to pay fair wages to the creatives behind and in front of the camera, the highly anticipated sequel Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is the first major film to take a hit with Sony Pictures removing the film from their schedule altogether, per The Hollywood Reporter.
The studio has also pushed Gran Turismo from August 11th to August 25th. Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Kraven the Hunter is moving from October to mid-2024 as well. However, the updates also date Bad Boys 4 for June 14, 2024, and Venom 3 for July 12, 2024. Moreover, The Ghostbusters Afterlife sequel has been delayed to March 29, 2024.

The move makes Sony the first major studio to make changes due to the ongoing strikes. The SAG-AFTRA strike began on July 14 while the WGA has been on strike since May.
Starring Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Vélez, Jake Johnson, Jason Schwartzman, Issa Rae, Karan Soni, Shea Whigham, Greta Lee, Daniel Kaluuya, Mahershala Ali, and Oscar Isaac, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse follows Miles goes on an adventure with Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman across the multiverse where he meets a team of Spider-People known as the Spider-Society, led by Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099, but comes into conflict with them over handling a new threat in the form of the Spot.
