‘Wicked’ Set Photos Offer New Look At Ariana Grande As Glinda

Universal Pictures’ theatrical adaptation of Wicked is currently in production. With filming begun, fans have caught a new look at Ariana Grande on set as Glinda, the Good Witch.
The new images, which can be seen below, feature Grande in costume as Glinda. She appears to be wearing the character’s classic costume, including the gown and crown while wielding a magic wand.

In addition to Grande, the cast also includes Tony Winner Cynthia Erivo, who will play Elphaba, the Wicked Witch. Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey will also portray Fiyero in the film. Cinematic icon Jeff Goldblum is in talks to play the Wizard in the movie, with Broadway star Ethan Slater taking on the role of Boq. In The Heights, director Jon M. Chu will direct the feature. Stephen Schwartz, who wrote both the music and lyrics to the Broadway show, is adapting the script alongside Winnie Holzman (Once and Again). The two-part feature adaptation will release during the Christmas seasons of 2024 and 2025, respectively.
Wicked is a Broadway musical based on the 1995 Gregory Maguire novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, itself a retelling of the classic 1900 novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum and the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. The production tells the story of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda, the Good Witch, as they struggle through opposing personalities. Its original stars included Frozen star Idina Menzel as Elphaba and Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda.
Wicked: Part One will release in theaters on November 27, 2024.
