Zendaya Reportedly Eyed For Lead Role In ‘The Fly’ Reboot

J.D. Dillard’s long-gestating reboot of The Fly is reportedly eyeing an A-list talent for the lead role. According to insider Daniel Richtman, Zendaya may star in the project.
It was first announced Dillard was attached to the project in 2017. The film will be a remake of the 1958 horror classic in which a scientist is fused with a fly after an experiment goes horribly wrong. As of now, it is unclear if 20th Century Studios has reached out to Zendaya about the role or if they are just interested in the actress.

Another remake of The Fly was released in 1986, directed by David Cronenberg and starring Jeff Goldblum. The film was a financial and critical success going on to win an Academy Award for Best Makeup.
This would be a major starring role for Zendaya and an exciting entry to the realm of horror films for the actress. The young star most recently starred opposite Tom Holland in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, as well as her TV series Euphoria. She will also appear in this year’s Dune: Part Two alongside Timothée Chalamet.
