‘Wonder Man’ Role Eyeing Ed Harris, Matthew Broderick & Michael Shannon

It appears that Marvel Studios is eyeing some big-name talent for a role in the upcoming Wonder Man series on Disney+. According to insider Daniel Richtman, the studio has spoken with a number of stars, including Ed Harris, Matthew Broderick, and Michael Shannon, for a role.
Based on a casting grid for a character referred to as “intellectual male” the series is looking for a male between the ages of 40 and 60. The character is an intellectual and creative type, but they are not an actor. Richtman suggests this could be Simon Williams’ agent, but this is just a theory.

The studio has spoken to a number of notable stars for the role, including Ed Harris, Matthew Broderick, Michael Shannon, Ralph Fiennes, Tim Robbins, and Tony Shalhoub. It is unknown if anything came from these talks, but it is interesting given the range of actors they have talked to.
Created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Don Heck in 1964, Wonder Man debuted in The Avengers #9. Simon Williams was initially introduced as a villain with ionic powers. Eventually, the character was reformed and even went on to join the Avengers. In the comics, Wonder Man’s brain pattern was copied to create the mental template for Vision.
Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, will executive produce the series, while Andrew Guest (Community and Brooklyn Nine-Nine) will serve as head writer. The project is part of Cretton’s overall deal with Marvel Studios he signed after Shang-Chi.
Would you like to see any of these stars appear in Wonder Man? What do you hope to see in the upcoming Marvel Studios series on Disney+?
