Cristin Milioti Joins Colin Farrell In ‘The Penguin’ HBO Max Series

One of the major standouts of Matt Reeves’ The Batman earlier this year was easily Colin Farrell’s performance as The Penguin. The actor completely disappeared in the role and impressed fans and critics so much that Farrell was confirmed for a spinoff series on HBO Max before the film even released. Now, as first reported by Deadline, the rest of the cast is beginning to fill out with the recent addition of Cristin Milioti.
Per the initial report, Milioti will play Sofia Falcone. Sofia is the daughter of Carmine Falcone, who was played by John Turturro in the film. As moviegoers will remember, Carmine Falcone was murdered by The Riddler in the film, leaving a giant void in the criminal underworld. Milioti’s Sofia will reportedly battle for control of Gotham City, head-to-head with Farrell’s Penguin.
Created by Jeph Loeb & Tim Sale, Sofia Falcone debuted in Dc’s 1996-1997 limited series Batman: The Long Halloween. The character made her live-action debut in the television series Gotham, portrayed by Crystal Reed.

Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark (Transfigure), and Farrell will serve as the show’s executive producers. Moreover, Lauren LeFranc (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) will write the series and serve as showrunner while Craig Zobel (The Hunt) will direct the first two episodes.
Cristin Milioiti is a Tony Award-nominated actress on the screen and stage. After originating the role of Girl in Broadway’s Once, the actress went on to play Tracy McConnell AKA The Mother in the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Over the last few years, Milioti has wowed audiences in shows like Peacock’s The Resort and films like Hulu’s Palm Springs.
