The Black Knife Cartel To Be Main Villains Of ‘Echo’

Marvel Studios’ Echo is set to see the return of Alaqua Cox’s Maya Lopez in her own solo series. And based on a new report from insider Daniel Richtman, the Black Knife Cartel will serve as the main villains of the show.
Created by Ed Brisson and Guillermo Sanna Bauza in 2017, the group debuted in Bullseye #2. Led by Teodor Zarco, the Black Knife Cartel supplied every criminal organization in the U.S. In the comics, the villain Bullseye was hired to rescue a mobster’s son from the group. After a long, drawn-out battle, Bullseye eventually took out the group’s leader after intervention from S.H.I.E.L.D.

Naturally, the show won’t be able to adapt this storyline directly, but it will most likely take elements from it. The series is set to follow Maya after leaving New York City and Wilson Fisk behind, so it seems likely this could bring her into conflict with the cartel. Echo is also set to feature Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, so it is possible he may assist Maya in taking on the group.
Echo hails from series creator Marion Dayre. Additionally, Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Cody Lightning, Graham Greene, and Zahn McClarnon will appear in the series in various roles.
