‘Across The Spider-Verse’ Merch Offers First Look At Scarlet Spider

Recently surfaced merchandise for the highly anticipated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has revealed yet another hero appearing in the film. Based on the merch, it seems that Ben Reilly’s Scarlet Spider will be featured in the movie.
First appearing in 1975’s The Amazing Spider-Man #149, Ben Reilly was created by Gerry Conway. The character was a clone of Peter Parker, who was grown in a lab by the Jackal and was tasked with fighting the hero. However, he eventually became an ally of Spider-Man and adopted his own spider persona going by the Scarlet Spider.

The merchandise, seen above, comes in the form of a Spider-Verse version of the game Trouble and features Reilly as a main character along Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, and Gwen Stacy. Given the character’s status in the comics and this merchandise, he will likely play a pivotal role in the film.
Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson are set to direct the sequel, with Phil Lord and Chris Miller serving as writers and producers. Peter Ramsey, who co-directed the first film, will return as an executive producer alongside Aditya Sood.
