During Marvel Animation’s panel at San-Diego Comic-Con, the studio revealed many new details concerning the animated Spider-Man: Freshman Year series. The show is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2024 and will feature a number of iconic characters.
While previously announced as canon to the MCU, the panel revealed new details suggesting this takes place on an alternate Earth. Norman Osborn will serve as Peter’s mentor in the series, and his son Harry Osborn will also appear as Parker’s classmate. However, he is not the only new classmate Peter will have, as the show will also introduce Nico Minoru of the Runaways and Amadeus Cho.
In addition to new classmates, the show will also feature some iconic heroes, including Doctor Strange and Daredevil in his black suit, voiced by Charlie Cox. Peter will definitely need all the help he can get as he will encounter a number of villains, including Doctor Octopus, The Rhino, Scorpion, Speed Demon Chamelon, and Tarantula.
Despite being Peter’s first year as Spider-Man, he will still suit up in a number of costumes, including some based on other characters such as the Beetle and the Shocker. In addition, he will also have a black suit, one based on his Future Foundation costume, and his iconic red and blue design.
It seems Marvel has high hopes for the series as they also announced it has been renewed for a second season, subtitled Sophomore Year.
