‘Doctor Who’ Set Photos Feature David Tennant and Catherine Tate

Sunday, it was announced that David Tennant and Catherine Tate will reprise their roles as the Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble for the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who. And it seems like the series is wasting no time on preparing for the special as new set photos have surfaced online revealing the return of the characters.
As can be seen in the images above, Tennant’s Doctor is wearing a new black trench coat not previously worn by the character. Additionally, it seems that Tate’s Donna is working with him, which is interesting as the character previously had all of her memories of the Doctor erased. Lastly, it seems that the TARDIS featured in the images is the current design used in the show, which could suggest Jodie Whitaker’s Doctor may have a role in the special.

Fans have already begun speculating how the characters will return for the 60th anniversary. Incoming showrunner Russell T. Davies has teased the story stating, “maybe this is a missing story. Or a parallel world. Or a dream, or a trick, or a flashback.” The fact Tennant is wearing a new outfit not previously seen in the series and that he is using a different TARDIS has added credence to the idea of this being a parallel world, but it is still too early to know for sure.
Doctor Who recently announced that Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa is set to take over the role from Whitaker as the Fourteenth Doctor. Whitaker’s final episode is set to air in October, after which Gatwa will step into the role.
