The highly anticipated sequel to Legendary’s Godzilla vs. Kong has cast its first major role. According to Deadline, Dan Stevens is set to star in the installment and will reteam with director Adam Wingard for the project.
Wingard, who helmed the first film, is returning to direct the sequel. Currently, production is scheduled to begin this summer in Australia. The project marks the first time Stevens and Wingard have worked together since 2014’s The Guest. The film earned both individuals rave reviews, so it will be interesting to see what they can do with this new project.
Stevens most recently appeared as Nixon White House Counsel John Dean in Gaslit on Starz. Previously, he starred in Noah Hawley’s X-Men series Legion on FX and has appeared in Downton Abbey as Matthew Crawley.
Plot details for the sequel are being kept under wraps. Not much is known other than the fact it will focus on the iconic monsters preparing for their next battle. The first installment became the second film of the pandemic era to cross $100 million at the domestic box office and went on to earn $468 million globally.
