‘Yo! MTV Raps’ Revival Finds New Co-Hosts With Conceited & DJ Diamond Kuts

Nearly one year after its comeback was announced, every old head and new-wave hipster’s favorite hip-hop program has finally found its full-time co-hosts. The Yo! MTV Raps revival at Pararmount+ is gaining steam as rapper Conceited and DJ Diamond Kuts were announced as the upcoming show’s emcees, according to a report from Billboard.
Back in the late eighties and early nineties, the classic TV music program brought hip-hop into households all across the nation. According to the report, this update intends to do the very same with live performances, ciphers, and intersectional commentary about where rap and daily life collide.

During its initial run, Yo! MTV Raps earned notes of both praise and scrutiny. The show ushered in a finer appreciation of a musical genre that sits assuredly at the forefront of the entertainment industry, in addition to today’s culture. However, the show also found itself on the receiving end of occasional scorn. Particularly, when its program runners were at odds with what they deemed commercially viable.
Speaking to the show’s industry and societal potency, Chief Content Officer of Music at Paramount+, Bruce Gillmer called Yo! MTV Raps “one of the most groundbreaking, iconic music series to date.” He also added that the show’s new co-hosts are “the perfect pair” to bridge the gap between the program’s legacy and what it can provide to “a whole new generation of fans.”
The Yo! MTV Raps revival is set to premiere on Paramount+ later this spring.
