Marvel Studios has officially released the first look at the highly anticipated sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. But it seems additional footage has now surfaced online revealing what appears to be an alternate version of a hero.
The footage features what appears to be Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange spinning around and falling in a scene before visual effects have been added. What makes this interesting is that it seems this could be an alternate version of the character. As fans learned from the film’s teaser Strange Supreme from Marvel’s What If…? will make an appearance in the movie, but he doesn’t look to be the one in the footage below.
This Strange is wearing a new outfit not seen before in the films. Recent rumors have suggested an alternate version of the character named Defender Strange will appear and it seems likely the individual in the footage above is him. It is unknown what role he may play in the film, but it seems likely it will be significant.
Benedict Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams are set to reprise their roles from the original film as Wong, Strange’s nemesis Mordo, and Christine Palmer, alongside Cumberbatch, respectively. Xochitl Gomez is also set to make her MCU debut as America Chavez. Sam Raimi took over directing duties for the movie after Scott Derrickson exited the project earlier this year.
