Sony Reportedly Interested In Live-Action Miles Morales ‘Spider-Man’ Film

It seems Sony is interested in further developing their own universe of Marvel characters. According to insider Daniel Richtman, the studio is considering developing a live-action Miles Morales centered Spider-Man project.
Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli, Miles Morales debuted in 2011’s Ultimate Fallout#4. A teenager of Afro-Puerto Rican ancestry, Morales is the second Spider-Man to appear in the Ultimate Marvel universe. In 2015, Miles came to the main Marvel Universe, beginning in the All-New, All-Different Marvel branding. Since then, the character has popped up in a main role in Disney XD’s Ultimate Spider-Man animated series. Additionally, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2019 and earned $375.5 million worldwide.

Richtman added that the studio is determining whether to make it a separate universe, similar to the Venom franchise. It should be noted that it seems likely that the Miles from the animated Into the Spider-Verse film will be different from the live-action version. However, it should be noted that, as of now, neither Sony nor Marvel have commented on this report.
Additionally, Richtman claimed that Miles Morales might be teased in the upcoming Marvel Studios’ feature Spider-Man: No Way Home.
