Potential ‘What If…?’ Leak Teases A Dark Turn For A Captain America

With promotion for Marvel Studios’ What If…? series on Disney+ picking up, it seems some new details have emerged. A recent listing for an upcoming Funko Pop! has teased a version of Captain America referred to as a “Supreme Leader”.

The listing is from the upcoming line of Funko Pops! to be released during Summer Convention at San Diego Comic-Con. Serlent Pops has found one Pop designated as “Marvel What If…?: Supreme Leader”. The account has been a reliable source of Funko leaks in the past and has consistently reported on future sets before being officially confirmed.

The closest version of Captain America this listing could refer to is Hydra Captain America, also known as Hydra Supreme from Nick Spencer, Rod Reis, Daniel Acuña, Steve McNiven, and Andrea Sorrentino’s Secret Empire. The story dealt with Hydra’s takeover of the U.S.  after Captain America revealed to be a Hydra agent after his memory was altered by the sentient Cosmic Cube Kobik.

The Disney+ series will feature the stars of the MCU returning to voice their iconic characters. Some notable names include Haley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, and Josh Brolin as Thanos.
