Shuma-Gorath Will Reportedly Appear In An Upcoming Marvel Project

A classic Doctor Strange adversary may be making his way to the MCU. According to insider Daniel Richtman, the character Shuma-Gorath will appear in an upcoming Marvel project.
Created by Steve Englehart and Frank Brunner in 1972, Shuma-Gorath first appeared in Marvel Premiere #5. Before recorded history, the creature ruled the Earth and demanded human sacrifices but was eventually banished by the time-traveling sorcerer Sise-Neg. He would eventually make his return to Earth via the mind of the Ancient One but was repelled by Doctor Strange, which led to the two becoming foes for the foreseeable future.

The character has often been portrayed as one of Strange’s villains, so it makes the most sense for him to appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. By having the Sorcerer Supreme face off with an interdimensional being, it would allow Marvel to showcase how powerful the hero has become.
It seems unlikely Shuma-Gorath will be the main antagonist of the project; however it is more likely he will serve as an obstacle for the overall plot. This would leave room for Marvel Studios to feature the character beyond this one appearance.
