‘Titans’ Adds ‘Mad Men’ Actor Vincent Kartheiser As Scarecrow

Titans looks to expand its villain roster with the introduction of legendary Batman adversary Scarecrow, which will be played by Mad Men actor Vincent Kartheiser. According to Lance Ausfresser of the Titans Facebook Group, he joins the cast and crew as the HBO Max production continues to roll in Canada.
Kartheiser’s credits feature a wide array of TV and movie roles, including appearing in the critically-acclaimed Mad Men as Pete Campbell and most recently in Sky’s Das Boot. He joins a select group of new characters for Season 3 that includes Barbara Gordon as Oracle and the introduction of Red Hood. The Joker is set to appear but it remains unclear who has been cast in the role.
Starfire’s evil sister, Blackfire, played by Damaris Lewis, will seemingly serve as the season’s primary antagonist. However, Kartheiser’s Scarecrow will reportedly be in Arkham Asylum as Dick Grayson assists Barbara Gordon in Gotham. How he fits into the overarching story is unclear, but it seems his role is featured in the first half of the season. Moreover, the iconic Batman villain joins the series just as former Robin Jason Todd returns to haunt the Titans team as the anti-hero Red Hood.

Created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, Scarecrow made his debut in World’s Finest Comics #3 in September 1941. Since then, the villain is the self-proclaimed “Master of Fear”. The ex-professor of psychology in Gotham City uses a variety of experimental toxins to exploit the phobias of his victims. He is one of the most enduring enemies of the superhero Batman. It is likely he has unfinished business with both Nightwing and Jason Todd due to his history with the Dark Knight. Scarecrow was played by Charlie Tahan and David W. Thompson in the television series Gotham and Cillian Murphy in The Dark Knight trilogy.
