Marvel Studios’ ‘X-Men’ Reboot Reportedly In Early Development

Mutandkind may be making their way to the MCU sooner than some expected. According to The Illuminerdi, Marvel Studios is developing an X-Men based film tentatively titled The Mutants.
During San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Kevin Feige confirmed that Mutants would be making their way to the MCU, but there have been no further updates since then. As of now, the only mutant-related content confirmed for the MCU is Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 3, but it remains to be seen how it will tie into the wider cinematic universe. So this new report is the first indication an X-Men project is in development.

The film, currently titled The Mutants, will reportedly serve as a reboot of the X-Men property. It is interesting to note the film is currently missing the iconic X-Men title, so this could indicate the project will focus more on Mutants in general rather than the super-team.
X-Men is one of two previously owned Fox properties fans have eagerly been waiting for Marvel Studios to reboot. The second being the Fantastic Four, which Feige confirmed is in active development with Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s Jon Watts on board to direct.
