John Wesley Shipp To Reprise His Role As Jay Garrick In ‘Stargirl’

The CW’s Stargirl is set to get its own speedster, and it’s a familiar face. According to Entertainment Weekly, John Wesley Shipp is set to reprise his role as the Golden Age Flash Jay Garrick.
Shipp will appear in episode 9 of the highly anticipated second season. According to an official breakdown, Jay Garrick will play a pivotal role in a flashback episode. It will establish “the Golden Age Flash as a member of Earth-2’s Justice Society of America.” The episode will also “officially bring Stargirl [Brec Bassinger] into CW’s post-Crisis CWverse alongside The Flash, Superman & Lois, Batwoman, Black Lightning, Supergirl, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.”

This will be the first crossover between characters from Stargirl and the wider Arrowverse. The Crisis on Infinite Earths event confirmed that Stargirl and the Justice Society of America existed on Earth-2, but there has been no wider connection established.
Season 1 of Stargirl revealed that Joel McHale’s Starman survived his encounter with the Injustice Society and is now looking for Pat. Given this and Shipp’s involvement with the new season, it seems likely fans will see the classic JSA once again.
