Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman is looking to round out its cast. According to Discussing Film, actress Gwendoline Christie has joined the project.
It is currently unknown who Christie will play in the show. Previously it was announced that Tom Sturridge was cast as Dream of the Endless, which leaves the rest of his siblings to be added. It’s possible Christie could play one of these roles, including Desire, Death, or Despair.
Christie is best known for her roles in Game of Thrones, The Hunger Games, and the Star Wars sequels, where she played Captain Phasma. Most recently, she starred in The Personal History of David Copperfield.
The Sandman series was given an 11 episode order from Warner Bros. and Netflix. Gaiman is set to executive produce with David S. Goyer and writer/showrunner Allan Heinberg. Production on the series was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which luckily gave the creative team time to perfect the scripts. Thankfully though, production on the highly anticipated series is finally underway.
