‘Icon’ Project Reportedly In Development At Warner Bros.

Static Shock may not be the only Milestone character Warner Bros. is looking to explore. Insider Daniel Richtman has revealed that an Icon project is now in development at the studio.
First appearing in 1993’s Icon #1, the character was created by Dwayne McDuffie and M. D. Bright. An original character from Milestone Comics, he existed outside of the main DC Comics continuity. In 1839 after his life-pod was stranded on Earth, the alien Arnus took on the appearance of the first life form he met, an enslaved African-American woman named Miriam. Assuming the identity of Augustus Freeman, he lives a quiet life on Earth as he waits for the planet’s technology to catch up to his own so he may return home. Until one day, he meets a young home intruder that convinces him to become the superhero Icon with her as his sidekick Rocket.

Richtman did not state whether this project would be a feature film or a series, so for now, fans will have to speculate. Icon is potentially the second Milestone Comics character to get the theatrical treatment as Warner Bros. is already working on a Static Shock film produced by Michael B. Jordan.
