The Dead Boy Detectives Will Appear In ‘Doom Patrol’ Season 3

Doom Patrol season 3 has reportedly added an obscure DC duo. According to insider Daniel Richtman, the Dead Boy Detectives will appear in the upcoming season.
Created by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner, Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine debuted in 1991’s The Sandman #25. The characters are the ghosts of two dead children. Paine was murdered at his boarding school in 1916 while Rowland was tormented by demonic spirits at the same school in 1990. After Rowland died, he decided to stay on earth to go on adventures with Paine.

In the comics, the Dead Boy Detectives have interacted with the Doom Patrol during the Vertigo crossover the Children’s Crusade. It remains uncertain whether the series will adapt this storyline since it featured several other characters, but perhaps it could use elements of it.
Given the characters have supported their own comic and stories in the past, it also begs whether this appearance could lead to a spinoff series. Now that Doom Patrol streams on HBO Max, it could be possible for the service to support future series like the Dead Boy Detectives.
