‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ Director Jon Watts To Helm Marvel’s ‘Fantastic Four’

Following the acquisition of 20th Century Fox Studios by Walt Disney a few years ago, many fans immediately set their eyes on what Marvel would do with Fox’s Marvel characters. As first revealed by Marvel COO during Thursday’s Disney Investor Day event, the first family of Marvel, the Fantastic Four, is one of the properties the studio has its eyes on first.
Per the initial announcement, Marvel has tapped Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts to helm the reboot of the classic characters. Given that Watts was tasked with bringing the web-slinger into the MCU and did so with such ease, it makes sense that Feige and company would trust him with the introduction of the Fantast Four.

The group debuted in Fantastic Four #1 (Nov. 1961), which helped to usher in a new level of realism in the medium. Featuring Reed Richards AKA Mr Fantastic, Susan “Sue” Storm AKA Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm AKA Human Torch, and Ben Grimm AKA The Thing, the group is one of the most memorable Marvel heroes of all time.
Previously, the characters have been depicted on the big screen in 2005 with Chris Evans and Jessica Alba among the cast. It, and the subsequent Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, was met with mixed reviews and eventually launched the infamous 2015 reboot starring Michael B. Jordan. Fans have long been clamoring for a new adaptation within the MCU and now they get their wish.
What do you think of the choice? Who do you want to see portray the classic heroes? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
