Michael Rooker To Play Savant In ‘The Suicide Squad’
Michael Rooker’s role in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad has finally been confirmed. During the film’s panel at DC FanDome, it was revealed that the actor will play the character Savant.
Created by Gail Simone and Ed Benes in 2003, Savant first appeared in Birds of Prey #56. A spoiled heir to a massive fortune, Brian Durlin moved to Gotham to become a vigilante. But after he was discouraged by Batman, he began using his computer skills for evil and started a profitable blackmailing business. In The New 52, a new version of the character was reintroduced as a member of Amanda Waller’s new Suicide Squad.
Ever since it was revealed that Rooker had joined the project, his role in the film has been kept closely under wraps. Originally it was reported that he would play the villain King Shark, but this was soon shot down. Since then, it was uncertain which member of the Suicide Squad he would portray, so it is exciting to have some confirmation from the cast finally.
