Disney is beginning work on yet another live-action adaptation of one of their classic films. According to insider Daniel Richtman, a live-action version of The Black Cauldron is in the works.
Released in 1985, The Black Cauldron is set in the mythical land of Prydain during the Early Middle Ages, the film centers on the evil Horned King who hopes to secure an ancient magical cauldron that will aid him in his desire to conquer the world. He is opposed by a young pig keeper named Taran, the young princess Eilonwy, the bard Fflewddur Fflam, and a wild creature named Gurgi who seeks to destroy the cauldron.

The Black Cauldron was the first Disney animated feature to receive a PG rating as well as the first animated film from the studio to feature computer-generated imagery. At the time, the movie was the most expensive animated film ever made.
Currently, there is no word on a potential creative team as the project is still in early development. Similarly, it’s unclear who will star in the film. Disney has tried to assemble some star power for their live-action adaptations, so it is safe to assume they will do the same for The Black Cauldron.
