The new Netflix docuseries Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness is one of the most talked-about things on social media. Many fans engaged in a series of speculative discussions online about the series and its centerpiece Joe Exotic. However, the story will not stop with the documentary. Parks & Rec star Rob Lowe revealed on Instagram that he will collaborate with Glee creator Ryan Murphy to develop a scripted adaptation of the docuseries. Deadline later confirmed the tease with reports that the actor was in talks to play Joe Exotic himself.
This news follows the confirmation that Saturday Night Live star Kate McKinnon will play Carole Baskin in an upcoming limited series based on the Tiger King story. However, this new project currently being circled by Lowe may be a completely new adaptation. Additionally, Lowe has been in talks with American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy about a collaboration. Per the initial report, the two have discussed adapting to Tiger King.
Joe Exotic is an American former zoo operator and convicted felon. Throughout his long and, albeit, strange career, the entrepreneur grew to become a prolific breeder of tigers in the United States. Ultimately, Exotic is convicted of 17 federal charges of animal abuse and two counts of murder for hire, for a plot to kill Big Cat Rescue CEO Carole Baskin.
The adaptation will likely fall under the overall deal Muphy has with the streaming service. Up next for the Pose creator is his upcoming series Hollywood, set for a May 1 launch date. Additionally, Lowe is best known for his role in the classic NBC comedy Parks & Rec. However, the actor has a long career in Hollywood with roles in films and shows like Tommy Boy and The West Wing.
