Jordan Peele’s Universal Monster Film Eyeing Will Smith

The Universal Pictures slate of monster films looks to be coming together following the release of The Invisible Man. According to insider Daniel Richtman, Jordan Peele’s untitled film is eyeing Will Smith to lead.
In Oct. of last year, it was announced that Peele signed a five-year first-look deal with Universal. Under the agreement, the studio will be developing the next two films that Peele will direct, produce, and write, and it appears that one of them is his entry in the Universal Monsterverse.

While it has not yet been revealed what property Peele will be working on, it seems that the project already has a star in mind. According to the film’s breakdown, the studio is hoping for Smith to lead. No word yet on if preliminary talks have begun with the actor, but given Peele’s track record and studio’s recent success with The Invisible Man, it seems likely the star would want to join the ever-growing monsterverse.
Peele is not the only A-lister to join Universal’s slate of monster films. Richtman also revealed recently that John Krasinski is potentially developing a movie for Universal Pictures focused on the world of vampires. Bogh Peele and Krasinki have helmed majorly successful horror projects, so it seems Universal is not afraid to approach big names for its slate of films.
