‘The Trench’ Will Take Place Between The First & Second ‘Aquaman’ Films

In February of 2019, Warner Bros. announced development on an Aquaman spin-off focusing on The Trench. Since then, news on the project has been scarce, but thanks to screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, it has been revealed the film will take place between Aquaman 1 and the upcoming sequel.
The spin-off currently has no release date but is being written by Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald with Aquaman director James Wan and Peter Safran producing.

In contrast to Jason Momoa’s solo film, The Trench will have a much smaller budget and will utilize horror elements to tell its story. Other than this, not much has been revealed by Warner Bros. or those in connection to the project. Luckily Johnson-McGoldrick has provided fans with an idea of when the film will take place.
Theoretically, it takes place between 1 and 2. But some pieces of this is still being worked out.

While answering questions from fans on Twitter, the screenwriter explained that the film will take place between Aquaman 1 and 2. It seems based on his second statement that this could be in flux, but it is still exciting to have any news about the spin-off.
