Biopics have long been a staple of cinema. The dramatization of real-life events surrounding notorious individuals tends to be big winners at the box office and during awards season. The next legend to get the biopic treatment will be the boxing icon, George Foreman. As first reported by Discussing Film, George Tillman, Jr. is set to direct upcoming film.
Tillman is one of the most well-rounded and accomplished filmmakers in the industry. His filmography includes episodes of NBC’s This Is Us and Netflix’s Luke Cage. Additionally, Tillman sat in the director’s chair for films like Notorious, Soul Food, and The Hate U Give. Tillman will team with David Zelon’s (Never Back Down) production company Mandalay Pictures to produce the film. Per the initial report, the film will begin production later this year.
George Foreman is a two-time world heavyweight champion and an Olympic gold medalist. His fights with Joe Fraizer and Muhammed Ali solidified his place in the sport’s history.
