When it was announced that the Home Alone franchise would be rebooted on Disney+, fans of the original films were excited by the news. At first, it seemed this would be a hard reboot, but a new breakdown has revealed some key characters will appear in the film, including Kevin McCallister.

As fans of the original films know, Kevin McCallister was the young protagonist of Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and was portrayed by Macaulay Culkin. At this time, it’s unclear if Culkin will return to reprise his role as Kevin in the new film, but it is exciting that the film will not be a full reboot but rather a continuation. The information comes via a casting breakdown from Daniel Richtman’s Patreon.

According to the breakdown, Kevin is the Owner of McCallister Security Solutions. The new family that this film will focus on uses Kevin’s security system in their home. Beyond this, it‘s unknown if the character will play a significant role in the movie, but it is exciting for fans of the original films that he will appear.

Kevin McCallister is not the only character from the original Home Alone films to return for the reboot. Buzz McCallister, Harry, and Marv will also appear. In this film, Buzz is a local police officer and is still much like himself as a teenager. Harry and Marv, as fans will remember, were the burglars played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, respectively. In the reboot, they are in prison after having their parole denied.

Similar to Culkin, it’s unclear if Devin Ratray, Pesci, or Stern will reprise their respective roles in the film. It would be very exciting for fans of the original to see them featured in some way, but either way, it is interesting Disney is involving the characters in this new feature.
