‘Captain Marvel 2’ In The Works With ‘WandaVision’s Megan McDonnell

2019 brought about the end of the Infinity Saga. Avengers: Endgame proved to be the epic conclusion the Marvel Cinematic Universe promised. However, with every end comes a new beginning. A few months prior to the release of ma, Marvel Studios released Captain Marvel. As first reported by THR, the franchise’s first female-centric superhero film’s highly anticipated sequel is finally in development.
Megan McDonnell, the writer for Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series WandaVision will complete the sequel’s script. However, the studio has yet to sign a director. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, the writing/directing team of the 2019 film will not return to helm the sequel. Per the initial report, Marvel Studios is currently in search of a female filmmaker to sit in the director’s chair.

Additionally, the sequel will take place in the modern, post-Avengers: Endgame MCU, unlike the 1995 setting of the first film.
Captain Marvel made history by becoming the first female-led superhero film to pass the billion-dollar mark at the worldwide box office. However, Marvel’s copious panels throughout the summer did not reveal a sequel. Fans grew nervous that the small portion of the audience who reacted negatively to the film would affect the future of Carol Danvers.
Nevertheless, Brie Larson will once again don the iconic red, blue, and yellow costume in her pursuit to protect the cosmos.
