While fans anxiously wait for the upcoming Wonder Woman sequel, director Patty Jenkins has revealed there are plans for a new film featuring the Amazons.
Jenkins won’t direct but instead executive produce for Warner Bros., which is due to her attachment to the superhero franchise. During the Wonder Woman 1984 press conference at CCXP 2019, the talented director revealed the news about the Themyscira-focused spinoff film.

Themyscira is an isolated city that serves as the Amazonians’ government and place of origin for Princess Diana. The location was prominently featured in the first Wonder Woman film, with Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright playing important roles in the superhero’s early life. Even without Diana’s involvement, the mythology surrounding the Amazonians is rich and ripe for further exploration.
The first trailer for 1984 will hit the Brazil Comic-Con during the live-stream of the panel. The film will follow Wonder Woman as the love of her life Steve Trevor mysteriously returns, while Pedro Pascal’s Maxwell Lord and Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah serve as the primary antagonists.

The film stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright.
