‘Black Adam’ To Introduce The Justice Society Of America
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s Black Adam is stacking up to be one of DC’s biggest film yet. Not only will the movie serve as an origin story for the antagonist, but it will also introduce audiences to the Justice Society of America.
During an interview with Screen Rant, Johnson revealed that the film will feature the iconic team of legendary superheroes. It was recently rumored that Black Adam would include appearances by Hawkman, Doctor Fate and Stargirl, and this comment seems to confirm that report.
When asked by Screen Rant if we would see Black Adam face-off against Zachary Levi’s Shazam in the film Johnson played coy with the idea:
“Without giving too much away, it’s not in the plans right now. I think the approach that we’re talking I feel really good about, and all of the filmmakers do too as well. It’s an origin story and that’s where we start it and we root it, and then we build out from there. Now, not to say Shazam isn’t on my radar. Of course Shazam is, but so is all of DC.”
The interviewer then commented that they liked the Justice Society of America growing up which led to Johnson revealing the news of their involvement in the film. “JSA. We will introduce you to that, the world to JSA,” the superstar revealed.
It is currently unknown what role the team will play in the movie, but nonetheless, it will be very exciting to see them join the DC Cinematic Universe. Of course, Black Adam will have to change the character’s origin story a bit to accommodate the team’s introduction.
The Justice Society of America first appeared in All Star Comics #3 in 1940. They were first introduced during the Golden Age, making them the first team of superheroes in comics. Original members of the group included Doctor Fate, Hour-Man, the Spectre, the Sandman (Wesley Dodds), the Atom (Al Pratt), the Flash (Jay Garrick), Green Lantern (Alan Scott), and Hawkman (Carter Hall).
