The Fast & Furious family is continuing its expansion. Netflix is joining the race with an animated series. Now, as first reported by EW, fans have their first look at the series and its main voice cast.
Spy Racers will premiere on Netflix on December 26th. The narrative will follow the adventures of Tony, Dominic Torretto’s cousin. However, Tony is forced to follow in the footsteps of Torretto as he and his crew work with a mysterious government agency to bring down villains trying to take over the world.
The series will star Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf) as Tony. Completing the crew of eccentric characters is underground racer Layla Gray voiced by Camille Ramsey (American Vandal) and 13-year-old tech genius Frostee Benson voiced by Luke Youngblood (Community). Vin Diesel’s daughter Similce will play Frostee’s younger sister Sissy.
Additionally, this new crew will include a master artist and natural spy Echo voiced by Charlet Chung (Overwatch). Jorge Diaz (Jane the Virgin) will voice the group’s muscle Cisco Renaldo. The presumed villain of the series, leader of the criminal syndication SH1FT3R Shashi Dhar, will be played by Manish Dayal (The Resident).
Renée Elise Goldsberry (Hamilton) and Jimmy Tatro (American Vandal) will also be appearing in the series in unknown roles.
The Fast franchise has been growing into one of the most exciting and ambitious franchises in modern Hollywood. This summer saw the release of its first spinoff Hobbs & Shaw. Additionally, Fast & Furious 9 will arrive on March 22, 2020.
