‘Titans’ S2, E8: “Jericho” Review – Jericho Is The Old Favorite

“Dick finally reveals the truth to the team and, in flashback, we learn the secret behind Deathstroke’s vendetta against the Titans. After the murder of Garth/Aqualad, Dick, Donna, Dawn and Hank befriend Jericho Wilson (guest star CHELLA MAN), Deathstroke’s son. Realizing that Slade’s devotion to his son might be Deathstroke’s only weakness, Dick is eager to use the information against his nemesis. But as the Titans’ friendship with Jericho grows, and he’s taken into the fold, Dick is forced to make a choice between loyalty and revenge.” – TITANS season 2, episode 8 ‘Jericho’ Synopsis
This is a non-spoiler review for the eighth episode of TITANS Season 2 ‘Jericho’. Check out our spoiler review on our YouTube channel HERE or catch up with our review of the seventh episode, ‘Bruce Wayne’, HERE.
TITANS takes a deep dive back into the past once again, with another (mostly) flashback episode. The old team of Titans build a relationship with Jericho after the ending of ‘Aqualad’. This works to a point, until they reveal their true motivations. The only reason this episode is saved at all is because of Brenton Thwaites and Chella Man. Brenton works some amazing emotional moments, and Chella exudes passion. There’s some pretty good action sequences, but according to rumor they were cut short. It could have easily boosted the cohesiveness if they’d left those parts in. Donna is easily beaten, but is it because of her loss, or did she need better training?
My same issues with ‘Aqualad’ remain here. Where is the integration with Raven and Gar? They’ve been left on the back burner far too long. Van Acker and Man together make me wish a different story line had been taken with the two. Aqualad and Jericho were well cast, and it would be a shame to only have the two guest star. Overall, ‘Jericho’ adds more to the overall storyline, but why did we need this amount of dedication to building a present storyline? Van Acker and Man feel wasted left at guest star status. Yes, there are a ton of characters, but both actors brought a lot to the table. I hope there’s plans to integrate them further.
Rating: 5/10
