Peyton Reed Returning To Direct ‘Ant-Man 3’ For Marvel Studios

Earlier this summer, Marvel revealed their Phase 4 slate at San Diego Comic-Con and D23 Expo. Missing out on the fun was the announcement of a third film in the Ant-Man franchise. Well, fans will not have to wait any longer. According to THR, director Peyton Reed will be officially returning to helm Ant-Man 3.
While the full details of the project are unclear at this time, production for the third film in the Ant-Man franchise is aiming to begin production at the end of 2020 or the start of 2021. Meaning the film would be released in theaters in 2022. Franchise star Paul Rudd is expected to return as Scott Lang. Additionally, Evangeline Lilly and Michael Douglas are set to return for another stint as Hope Van Dyne and Hank Pym, respectively.
Reed took over the first film late in the development process when Edgar Wright left following creative differences. The movie went on to make $519.3 million at the worldwide box office. Then in 2018, Reed returned as director for Ant-Man & The Wasp with more creative control, earning $622.6 million worldwide.

Hopefully this time around, fans will be able to see Michelle Pieffer in a more prominent role as Janet Van Dyne. During Avengers: Endgame, fans were introduced to an older version of Cassie Lang portrayed by Emma Fuhrmann. It’s possible fans will be able to see Lang take on a bigger part on the Ant-Man team than her previous appearances. In the comics, Cassie goes on to join the Young Avengers as the superheroine, Stature.
