Jonah Hill No Longer In Talks For ‘The Batman’ Villain Role

A few weeks ago, it was revealed that Jonah Hill was tapped to play a major villain in Matt Reeves’ upcoming The Batman. Well, as first reported by Deadline, The Wolf of Wall Street actor is no longer in negotiations to appear in the film.
It was originally reported that Hill was cast as The Penguin. However, the story changed to Warner Bros’ intention of signing him on to play The Riddler. Either way, Hill would have been an interesting choice to take on the Caped Crusader.
Borys Kit from The Hollywood Reporter has weighed in on the situation, adding a glimmer of hope that the studio will work a deal out with Hill. “That said, Hollywood deals can be like comic book deaths,” the insider said on Twitter. “Always a chance for a return. If the price is right.”

This news comes off the heels of the huge announcement that Zoë Kravitz has joined the film as Catwoman. With Robert Pattinson and Jeffrey Wright attached to play Batman and Commissioner Gordan, respectively, the cast is stacked with A-listers with or without Jonah Hill.
The Batman will reportedly tout a peanut gallery of rogues. Along with Catwoman, The Riddler, and The Penguin, Reeves also has plans for Two-Face and The Mad Hatter to appear. However, while Hill may be out, actors Jamie Foxx and Giancarlo Esposito are also still rumored for roles.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that Hill has exited the project? Sound off in the comments!
The Batman will hit theaters on June 25, 2021.
