When Deathstroke demands they turn over Rose in exchange for Jason, the moral crisis threatens to tear the team apart from the inside.” – TITANS Season 2, E5 ‘Deathstroke’ Synopsis
This is a non-spoiler review for the fifth episode of TITANS Season 2 ‘Deathstroke’. Check out our spoiler review on our YouTube channel HERE or catch up with our review of the fourth episode, ‘Aqualad’, HERE.
‘Deathstroke’ is a step forward, combining the efforts of ‘Aqualad’ with present day. This episode works extraordinarily well with utilizing the flashback to its advantage and moving from it. Despite this episode working well, I can’t help but have an innate desire to have ‘Deathstroke’ combined with ‘Aqualad’. Just so the flashback would integrate more with the present day characters.
The hunt for Jason creates some good building blocks to bring the older team back together. To defeat Deathstroke the Titans will have to work together. Even if they don’t trust each other right now. The team foundation is starting to be rebuilt.
Kory will be a fantastic addition to the team, her fight scenes with Dick and Deathstroke are absolutely fantastic. She’s a voice of reason for the team, an outside source that understands their situation, but will keep the team on the straight path.
I’ve said Esai is creepy as Deathstroke right? He is an awesome villain. I can’t wait to see more. This is Brenton’s best performance as Dick Grayson so far.
Overall, ‘Deathstroke’ isn’t bad. But without stellar performances from Esai, Anna, and Brenton, it’s nothing memorable.
Rating: 7/10
