Update: William Hurt Reportedly Spotted On The Set Of ‘Black Widow’

UPDATE: Images from the set of Black Widow confirm that William Hurt was filming scenes for the movie in Macon, Georgia.
ORIGINAL REPORT: A familiar face could be returning to the MCU next year. According to Charles Murphy, Thunderbolt Ross actor William Hurt was on the set of Black Widow.
Hurt made his debut as the United States military officer in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. Ross was obsessed with hunting down Bruce Banner who had a romantic relationship with his daughter, Betty, before being exposed to gamma radiation and becoming the Hulk. The character wasn’t seen again until Captain America: Civil War when he presented the Avengers with the Sokovia Accords. Thunderbolt’s last MCU appearance came in Avengers: Endgame during Tony Stark’s funeral.
Murphy speculates that Hurt could be filming a post-credits scene as the film’s star, Scarlett Johannson, wasn’t present for the shoot. Adding fuel to that theory is the fact that late last month the production of Black Widow had a wrap party, seemingly marking the end of principal photography.

At this point, Hurt’s involvement in the film could mean any number of things, but fans will undoubtedly connect it to the Thunderbolts. In the comics, Ross, who takes on the identity of the Red Hulk, forms a strike team of reformed villains, known as the Thunderbolts, to clean up messes made during his military career. If Ross is making an appearance in Black Widow, he may want to start a live-action version of the team.
