First Look At Gemma Chan As Sersi In Marvel Studios’ ‘Eternals’

This year’s San Diego Comic-Con was highlighted by the full cast announcement of Marvel’s Eternals. The star-studded ensemble converged on stage as Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige touted the future of the MCU. Now, thanks to a batch of new set photos, fans have their first look at Gemma Chan as Sersi on the set of the film.
Not long ago, set photos revealed Angelina Jolie on the set of Eternals suited up as Thena. What was interesting is that the setting of those photos appeared to be an ancient river bed which is in great contrast to today’s set photos. They feature Gemma Chan wearing modern-day clothes in what appears to be present-day London.

First appearing in Strange Tales #109 in 1963, Sersi is a member of the Eternals, an ancient and powerful race of superhumans. She has been a member of both the Avengers and God Squad. In the ’90s, Sersi had a romantic relationship with Dane Whitman, aka Black Knight, who Game of Thrones star Kit Harington will play in the film.
Chan is best known for her role as Astrid in the 2018 breakout hit Crazy Rich Asians. Her other credits include Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Transformers: The Last Knight, and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. Earlier this year, Chan starred alongside Brie Larson in Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel as the Kree warrior Minn-Erva.
