‘Bumblebee’ Director Travis Knight In Talks With Sony To Helm ‘Uncharted’

Sony Pictures is not slowing down as they pump out news for their film side. The studio is currently in talks to land Bumblebee director Travis Knight. According to Deadline, Knight is the choice to helm the live-action film based on the popular PlayStation game, Uncharted.
Sony had to delay the development of the film that would star Tom Holland as Nathan Drake for some time. Director Dan Trachtenberg left the project earlier this year, leaving Sony with a hole to fill. If Knight comes on board, production for the live adaptation of the game would begin production sometime next year.
Knight spent the majority of his career working on animation films. He directed Kubo and Two Strings. He was also the lead animator on films like Coraline, The Boxtrolls, and ParaNorman. Although, Knight really began to turn heads in Hollywood back in 2018 when he made his live-action directorial debut with Bumblebee. After the success of the latest Transformers film, Knight became one of the most sought after names in the film industry.

The script for Uncharted was written by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Rafe Judkins. The story will follow Holland’s Drake in his journey of becoming a treasure hunter. Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan will serve as executive producers under Sony PlayStation Productions. Uncharted will be the first film to come from Sony PlayStation Productions.
