‘Sons Of Anarchy’ Star Charlie Hunnam To Star In Apple TV Series ‘Shantaram’

Along with the announcement of the iPhone 11 last week, Apple made it known that they were joining the streaming service business. As first reported by Deadline, Apple TV is producing a live-action adaptation of the novel Shantaram and Charlie Hunnam will headline the series.
Written by Gregory David Roberts, the best-selling novel tells the story of Lin. A fugitive from an Australian prison, Lin looks to find a new life among the slums of Bombay, India. The series, however, was written by Eric Warren Singer, best known for his work on 2013’s American Hustle. It will begin production in both Australia and Inda in October.
Shantaram will mark Hunnam’s return to TV following his wildly successful FX series Sons of Anarchy. Additionally, Hunnam has appeared on the big screen in Pacific Rim and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. The actor is also often fan’s choice to portray The Green Arrow if the archer were to appear int he DCEU.
This series is a big victory for Apple TV, which won a bidding war with several other companies. The streaming service will need all the content they can get in order to compete with Netflix and Disney+.
