TV Guide featured an interview with Damon Lindelof wherein he revealed some new tidbits about his Watchmen sequel series. Hbo.watchmen broke down some of the details which we have provided below:
- This world of Watchmen will have stringent gun laws, which will also impact the police and their use of firearms.
- Lindelof will not confirm Jeremy Irons is Ozymandias. However, the director did reiterate that the show’s take on the character will surprise comic fans.
- The pilot will be strange for both fans of the comics and new viewers alike. Lindelof stated, “I want Watchmen to be accessible for people who didn’t have an intimate familiarity with the comic. I figured I’m probably doing my job right if everybody is equally confused by the pilot!”
- The show is going to get very weird. As the director put it, “On a scale of 1 to 10, if giant alien squid is a 10, I’m going all the way for the 10.”
Set as a direct sequel to Alan Moore’s acclaimed comic, Lindelof’s adaptation is set to include everything from the comics as canon. Such a concept will undoubtedly ask some interesting questions, such as how did the world evolve after the events of Watchmen.
